A Brief History of the Anglo-Indians
Abstract
This article by Gloria Moore originally appeared in "The Australian People: an Encyclopedia of the nation, its People and Their Origins", in 1988. It discusses the origins of the Anglo-Indians in terms of the colonial practices of the Europeans and traces the valuable role the Anglo-Indians played in maintaining the British in India. The article then goes on to discuss the Anglo-Indian contribution to post-colonial India, this is followed by the role that Anglo-Indians are playing in Australia.
